Default DeeBee Trading Journal

Hi Fellow Traders,

I have decided to create my personal trading journal. I can clearly see how such will greatly help in my day trading progress. A little intro about myself, I have learned stock trading through reading TA books authored by Linda Raschke, Steve Nison, and Dave Landry to name a few and of course through many online trading blogs. I have a separate account on which I have been swing/position trading with good results. I usually trade a handful of selected stocks and ETFs.

This is my first attempt in day trading. I know its high risk and difficult but I am not in a hurry. I would like to learn this art of trading very slowly. Along side that premise I have re-opened my mind. I am ready to understand and embrace its inherent intricacies. In order to begin my journey I have joined Shoot’s Pro Active Trader Course. I firmly believe that this trading course will provide significant knowledge, strategies, and market insights that I can soon gather in which to create my very own trading methods.

I have just finished the PRO Course. My next move is to practice paper trading and apply what I have learned. I will treat this paper trading as if it’s real money. I will keep records and personal comments of my trades and will also implement Shoot's article about “Trading in Samples” to further examine the results of my trades.

The tradingapples community will be my colleagues together we shall learn from each other. Lastly, thank you to the founding members of this valuable website!

Cheers!

DeeBee

Hey DeeBee,
Glad to hear you are ready to jump into day trading and starting a journal! I think your journal will be an extremely valuable resource to you as you start your journey. I know my journal and videos have helped me develop as a trader though community feedback as well as personal reflection.

I think you're certainly on the right path and am looking forward to following along on your journey

Personal Comments:

1. Traded five different equities today. I've found that its difficult to focus and also resulting to more unnecessary shares bumping commission cost. I should pick a select few that closely match my present trading skill and temperament. Maximum of three for now would be good.

2. Need to devise a plan to fine tune my entries and exit. Its getting there. Review the PRO course related to this issue.

3. Always cut short losing trades. Keep losses below 20. Wait for proper trade entries.

4. Continue to paper trade in 100 shares for the time being. Baby steps.

5. Always exercise patience. Be prepared, “In trading anything can happen”

Misc:
Review Shoot's and Brendan's YouTube Videos. Take notes on how they enter/exit and manage trades.

Default Inserting Image

Hey guys,

I have a screen shot of my LightSpeed order screen but can't figure out how to upload in my journal. Clicking the "insert image" button opens up a dialog box asking for a URL. Is there another way to insert image not from URL but from your computer instead?

Thanks!

Hey DeeBee,

Thanks for starting your journal here. We're looking forward to seeing your progress.

about the images, when you hit the reply or new post button underneath the box where you enter text will be a button that says "manage attachments" from here you can attach images directly from your computer.

If you have any trouble with that please let me know.

Shoot.

Default DB Paper Trades: Day 2

I am done paper trading for today. Market has been choppy this morning, it requires agility and taking profit much earlier. My minimum goal of 100 have been achieved.

Total shares traded today: 2400 x 0.00395 = 9.48 + 10 (ECN Fees)
Total commission and ECN = 19.48

According to Brendan ECN fees would be an additional 0.40/100 shares or a total of $7-8 per 1000 shares this includes commission.

Marked P&L: 121.79
Less: 19.48

Net P&L: 102.31

I've traded SPY, AAPL, SRS, and AMZN. I should be trading a maximum of three until I'm skilled/confident enough to manage more than that.

See attached trading logs for Day 2.

Default DB Paper Trades: Day 3

No paper trades today due to power outages in our area. It started last night and continued until 12:30PM PST. I just wanted to update my journal of any issues trading related because I'm determined to learn this art tremendously. I know that with the help of Shoot, Brendan, and the whole community I will have a bigger chance to be successful. That's my prime reason why I enrolled in PRO course and joined TradingApples.com this is the only website that I know whose objective is to truly help novice and even experienced traders to achieve consistency and excellence in their trading skills. Its not easy you'll have to do a lot of psychological changes but its doable just keep an open mind. Observe and absorb :-)

I would like to share this blog link from another successful trader. Read it thoroughly as I believe it will inspire you to work even harder and do your very best to be successful in this business.

Hey DeeBee,

Honestly your attitude is so good that I believe you have an excellent chance of becoming consistently profitable. And quite frankly I am amazed that someone who hasn't even traded live yet understands and pays homage to the fact that a good amount of psychological changes and tweeks will have to be made to gain success in this business. Just knowing this gives you a HUGE edge as most who approach this profession simply think the learning curve is light, but on the contrary it is very steep as you can learn the basics of trading in one day, but may not ever learn to trade profitably.
As always DeeBee I am here to help if you have any questions or need any specific feedback on anything. Keep up the good work.

Shoot.
