Hey Sarge, that was a really decent play, you wrote there that prices hit your mental stop, you donīt use hard stops too, do you?

Jay's Trading Videos and Journal
Hey traders,
I've been taking a backseat lately watching the market because of some scheduling issues. School work takes priority though so it's all just part of the equation. I did catch a small move today though. This is the 5 Min chart from 03/04/10. I had originally wanted to short at 1860 but price didn't make it to my entry so I waited and saw another good s/r level. The trend was down though so it wasn't going to be a doozie. Here's the chart:
Price is actually on it's way up further but I saved myself some gut-wrenching by getting out when I did.
Jay out...

re: Sarge's Trading Armory
Hey all,
I took a lost today. I don't have the chart right now because I'm using a school computer but I'll explain. /NQ made a big push today from 1885 and I was planning on shorting at 1900, an area of resistance from a month before. I didn't really take the recent bull movement in consideration. (Even though I was talking to Shoot and he brought it up.) Price ended up going right past 1900, hit 1905, went down and bounced off of 1900 and then marched onward to 1910. Kind TTB'd it a bit there.
I'm currently down 3.5% YTD and think I might take a temporary break from trading for the rest of this week. I think I finally need to sit down and make a concrete trading plan. Graham got on me about this lately and I'm thankful for it. I know what I'm doing, but being able to throw 150 mph pitches doesn't mean anything if you can't get it to the mitt. Consistency is just kicking my @#$.
After getting this trading plan ratified by both sides of my brain I have all spring break next week to sit and watch the markets.
Godspeed traders,
Jay out...

re: Sarge's Trading Armory
Yeah I think a nice little break is in order. If you look back at my journal around the end of last year I was literally in the same position as you man. Started off great and then downhill. Everyone told me to take a break from the markets for a bit and as much as I just wanted to get back on the computer and make my money back, I listened. I can't tell you how happy I am that I took that time off. I know that you know what you're doing also. I think even seasoned traders need breaks sometimes. You'll be back.
Good luck man.

Hey traders,
I started trading equities! I took my first stock trade yesterday but my 50 share position was a joke and I made 2 bucks! I did make a nice play on PHH today. Here's the trade.

re: Sarge's Trading Armory
Hey traders,
I've had a couple people mention I've been pretty silent on my journal. I recently quit the futures scene with a loss of 7.8% of what I started with. I've been concentrating my time on finals, making money to get the 7.8% back and preparing to take on stock trading. I've gotten into contact with some people who are going to help me get started; I start the paperwork ordeal Monday. I will hopefully start trading and making chart/video posts by mid May.
I also have a course underway right now. Progress has been slow but I've got the layout so all I have to do is follow my outline. I'd like to give a big thanks to Shoot for giving me the opportunity to make a course for TA and Mattman for becoming a host and taking charge lately.
Godspeed traders,
Jay

Hey man,
Yeah focus on finals. The market will be here after exams are over. Sometimes taking time out of the market is a good thing.

Sorry bout those losses Sarge. You did well compared to most beginning traders. I'm looking forward to seeing you trade the equities market, and as I said before. I'll be right there with you man.

I agree. Most beginning traders face a margin call, or blow their account. I think any beginning trader that kept their losses to a 10% loss or 20% loss for the first year did a marvelous job. I look forward to seeing you trade equities as well.
